Join
Gary Block Tours on Saturday, June 15th, when we depart Little Falls at 5:45
a.m. from the northeast corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot. Our comfortable Andy’s
Charter Service motor coach will also pick up in Baxter, Brainerd or any other
city along the way. We’re headed to the Minnesota Quilt Show at the Duluth
Entertainment Convention Center. Visit
the largest quilt show in Minnesota coming to the DECC. One of the advantages
of arriving with a coach, is a quilt show representative will meet the coach
and give everyone a handstamp and show guide.
Then you go right into the expo! You won’t have to stand in line at
admissions to get your ticket. Quilters and admirers can view quilts from
traditional to modern, entered by master quilters and those just beginning.
There are a wide variety of learning and connecting opportunities. Over 50
vendors will offer fabric, sewing machines, yarn, notions and more. On
Saturday, there are two lectures in the morning. The first is at 9:00 called “Quilt Ephemera”
and later that morning at 10:30 there is a panel of Pattern Makers. Tickets are
$15 and available
at the show. Check out the quilt exhibits which include judged, non-judged,
youth, challenge, MQ logo exhibit, special exhibits and president’s
invitational. There is a food court at
the expo, so there’s no need to leave for lunch. Take a break and stop by Quilting for Others
to sew for a while. Heartstring quilt
blocks will be made into quilts to benefit Duluth area charities. Visit the
Connection Table, The Connection and Sewcial Lounge
to meet new friends. You may not even
be quilter, but appreciate the art form.
If you’ve wanted to learn how to quilt, you’ll find help. For the avid quilter, you’ll find inspiration
and supplies everywhere you turn. For
more information on the show, you can go online to www.mnquilt.org/mq2024. If you want to add something extra to your
day, Canal Park is just a short walk from the DECC. There’s shopping, food, ships going through
the canal and so much more. Departing Duluth at 3:00, we’ll be returning to
Little Falls around 6:00 p.m. Give us a call and sign up today.
